The Mississippi Geographic Alliance is partnering with the Infinity Science Center in a series of geographic education professional development workshops on June 17th/18th and 20th/21st, 2019. These workshops are designed to give teachers geographic tools and resources to incorporate geography into their lesson plans and classrooms across disciplines.

These workshops are FREE. For each day of these professional development workshops participants  may purchase .8 CEU's for $20 per day. Resources, lunch and snacks will be provided.


The program for June 17 and 20 (M & Th) *All of these sessions will be taught on both Monday and Thursday

Teaching Geography with Group Projects: Participants will learn how to incorporate geography into their classrooms with examples of student group work. Participants will be given tools and resources.        


Teaching with Geography Frameworks: Participants will learn the Three I’s of Geography and how to incorporate geography frameworks into their lesson plans.


Language Arts and Geography across Disciplines: Participants will be given tools and resources to incorporate language arts and geography into any discipline.


National Geographic Teacher Certification Phase One:  National Geographic Educator Certification is a free professional development program that recognizes pre-K through 12 formal and informal educators committed to inspiring the next generation of explorers, conservationists, and changemakers.                                                                                                                                                      

Virtual Reality 3D Geography:  Participants in this session will use virtual reality devices incorporating geographic hands on learning. Virtual reality brings the world into the classroom.


Citizen Science: Participants will learn tools and resources to engage their students in the collection and analysis of data relating to the natural world. Citizen scientists can provide information that would not otherwise be available due to time, geographic, or resource constraints.
